When Quavo lost Offset we knew that he would forever be changed. Nothing would be the same for the leader of the Migos. Honey Bun is those thoughts manifested. Quavo’s content is different.
Blatantly in reference to Offset’s untimely demise, Quavo utters, “I dont wanna hear no sorry for my loss.”
In his music and presumably his life Quavo’s disposition is suggesting more aggression and less patience,
“How can I come outside, without no mask on? / They wanna see my emotions, I ain't smilin' at all / I bought a bulletproof Humvee, it could take down a wall / Tactical mechanics end up paying off.”
Sporting a metal mask, the video is both dark and menacing and Quavo is looking to make his statement. The passing of Offset, has had profound affect on Hip Hop as a whole, but nothing like the affect it must of had on Quavo.
As he mourns and finds his voice without his nephew this new tone doesn’t sound natural for Quavo, but let’s see where it leads us as he settles into this version Honcho.
